Eagle-Picher IndustriesEagle-Picher Industries, Cincinnati parent of the Wolverine gaskets plant in Blacksburg, said Wednesday that sales for the fourth quarter ended Nov. 30 were $153.7 million, down 12.2 percent from $175 million a year earlier. Net income was $2.4 million, or 22 cents per share, up 33 percent compared with $1.8 million, or 15 cents per share, in the fourth quarter of 1990.
For the fiscal year, sales were $598.6 million, down 14.4 percent from $699.3 million in 1990. After factoring in a loss of $12.3 million from the closing or sale of operations in 1991 compared with a gain of $16.7 million in 1990, reorganization costs of $12.1 million in 1991 and other non-operating items in both years, the company experienced a net loss of $15.8 million, or $1.44 per share, in 1991 compared with net income of $39.4 million, or $3.64 per share, in 1990.

CCAIR Inc., a Charlotte, N.C.-based commuter airline operating at Roanoke Regional Airport as USAir Express, on Wednesday reported net income for the quarter ending Dec. 31 of $211,005 or 3 cents per share compared to a net loss of $2,273,140 or 39 cents per share in the similar quarter a year ago.
