Carvins Cove cleanup scheduled SaturdayThe Science Museum of Western Virginia and the Cabell Brand Center will sponsor a cleanup day at Carvins Cove Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon.
The low water level at the reservoir has caused exposure of large amount of trash. Refuse also has been found in public picnic areas, at the boat landing and in remote areas of the forest.
The cleanup will begin at the Carvins Cove Boat Landing at the end of Reservoir Road, off U.S. 11. The city of Roanoke will provide garbage bags and will haul the trash to the landfill.
Coffee and doughnuts will be provided to volunteers, who should dress appropriately and bring gloves. Volunteers younger than 18 will need signed parental permission. Slips are available at the Science Museum's admissions desk on the fourth floor of Center in the Square.
For more information, call 342-5710.
