BLUES BEAT BATH COUNTY AT FOUL LINE
Chuck Baker had 18 points Thursday to lead Parry McCluer to a 67-61 Pioneer District basketball victory over Bath County.
Craig Floyd added 16 and Jason Baker 15 for the Fighting Blues (7-8 overall, 6-7 district), who hit 11 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter.
Craig Phillips led the Chargers with 19 points. \

MARTINSVILLE - Dwayne Swinton scored 31 points and the Tigers topped the Chiefs in a Virginia Independent Conference thriller.
Carlisle (2-8 VIC) led 63-62 when Swinton stole the ball, hit a layup and was fouled with 8 seconds remaining. He hit the free throw to give Hargrave (6-5 VIC) a two-point lead. Carlisle missed a 7-footer at the buzzer.
Donnie Pennington had a season-high 25 points for Carlisle. \
