Chamber elects executive vice president

JUDY GRIESENBROCK has been elected executive vice president of the Chamber elects executive vice president

Salem/Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce. She replaces Curtis Beach, who resigned in January. She will assume her duties on March 1. William Board, retired executive vice president, is serving in the interim.

Griesenbrock is co-owner of Salem Square Home Decorating. She previously worked in employment counseling, sales and marketing. Her civic affiliations include membership on the board of directors for the Association of Retarded Citizens and prior membership on the board of directors of the chamber.

BANKING

J.W. "BILL" KIRK JR. has been named chairman of Crestar Bank's Roanoke Advisory Board. He succeeds R.B. Mountcastle, who retired at the end of 1991. Kirk joined the board of Colonial American Bank in 1978 and continued to serve on the Crestar board after the merger of the two banks in 1989. Kirk is chairman of the board of Fuel Oil and Equipment Co.

\ ANN DUVALL HARRELL has been promoted to senior vice president at Crestar Bank. She currently serves as retail division head of the Roanoke branches of the bank. Prior to joining Crestar, she was vice president at Brownsville Bank in Brownsville, Texas.

INSURANCE

JOHN M. ALDERSON, vice president of the John Alderson Agency in Daleville, has been appointed to the advisory board of Millers Mutual Insurance of Harrisburg, Pa.

MANUFACTURING

THOMAS L. ROBERTSON has been named to the board of directors of Roanoke Electric Steel Corp. He is president and chief executive officer of Carilion Health System and Roanoke Memorial Hospitals.

ORGANIZATIONS

JUDITH L. CHILDRESS of Century 21, Childress & Associates in Martinsville, has been named region IV vice president of the Virginia Association of Realtors.

SERVICES

YENSHEN HSUEH has been appointed principal officer of the Appalachian Regional Blood Services of the American Red Cross. He will be responsible for all operations involving the blood program, which has its headquarters in Roanoke and extends throughout 35 counties in Central and Southwestern Virginia and into several counties in West Virginia. His appointment follows the retirement of Dr. Marci Cannon, who had served the Appalachian Region as medical director and then as interim principal officer.

Dr. Hsueh was most recently medical director of the Central Indiana Blood Center in Indianapolis.
