AN UNFAIR EVALUATION

To Jack Bogaczyk:

I am writing in response to your article, "Roundball Bounces Just Right," on Jan. 12, specifically paragraph four, where you write, "despite an officiating crew that tried to help the Patriots as much as possible."

What you did was to question the integrity of all three of the officials assigned to the game. You told the people who observed the game and those who did not that we showed favoritism to the home team. I respectfully deny that observation, and further assert that you had no right making that statement.

While I agree that at times officials miss calls and make mistakes, I submit to you that those mistakes are made impartially, honestly and without any regard as to teams participating in the game.

It may interest you to know that all members of this crew have been selected to officiate at the district, regional and state levels. Obviously, we would not have been selected for these games if our credibility as impartial officials were in question.

As mentioned earlier, we are all human and make mistakes. The question now is whether you will admit that you made a mistake in your unfair evaluation of this crew, without proper investigation into their credentials.
