WILDER TO REVIEW CASE OF INMATE WITH AIDS
Gov. Douglas Wilder will review whether an inmate dying of AIDS should be allowed to go home to his family.Alex M. Velazquez began serving a 23-year sentence for cocaine distribution in August 1989. Fifteen months later he was diagnosed with AIDS.
After Velazquez's family has made repeated requests to allow the Powhatan Correctional Center inmate to go home to New York City to die, Wilder agreed to look into the matter. - Associated Press
