ELK FOUNDATION BANQUET FEATURE LEONARD RUE

Leonard Lee Rue III, the world's most published wildlife photographer, will be featured at the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet Feb. 29 at the Tanglewood Holiday Inn.

This is the first Roanoke banquet of the foundation, which was founded in 1984 and now has more than 80,000 members. The organization has funded more than 400 wildlife conservation projects in North America, gaining much of its funding from banquets, raffles and auctions held across the country, said Mike Roberts, chairman of the Blue Ridge Chapter.

Single tickets for the Roanoke banquet are $40; $60 for couples. The price includes membership in the foundation and a 4:30 p.m. program by Rue, titled High County. A social hour begins 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are available from Trebark Outfitters, Capital Guns, On Target, Parkway Guns and Orvis.

A planned auction will include Western big game hunts, limited prints and hunting and fishing equipment. Tickets will be limited to 300 participants, and there will be no sales at the door.
