FIRE-STRICKEN FAMILY NEEDS MONEY AND CLOTHING
Money and clothing are still needed for a man and his three sons who lost their home to a trailer fire Jan. 29.
"They're having a hard time," said Jennia Cook, a friend of Ricky Akers, 37, and his sons.
The trailer, in Long's Trailer Park, was gutted in the accidental fire that likely started in the electrical box area.
The family of four has been staying in a motel room.
Cook said $300 to $400 in donations have been sent to Akers' bank account with NationsBank in Fairlawn, but clothing is still needed.
Akers and his sons need jeans, shirts, jackets and household items, Cook said.
The two teen-age sons wear size 30 waist, 32 length. The father wears size 33 waist, 32 length. The 7-year-old wears size seven. Medium- and large-size shirts and jackets are needed.

A drop-off point has also been set up at Family Hair Care on Virginia 99 in Pulaski.
Money donations may be mailed to NationsBank, P.O. Box 3486, Radford, Va. 24143, to the attention of Joann Sower.
