REPORTED EARNINGS
Federal-MogulFederal-Mogul Corp., a Southfield, Mich., operator of an engine bearings plant in Blacksburg, on Wednesday reported a net loss of $4.9 million, or 36 cents per share, for 1991, compared with net earnings of $8.1 million, or 20 cents a share, for 1990.
For the fourth quarter, the company reported a net loss of $8.4 million, or 41 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $7.8 million, or 39 cents a share, in the 1990 quarter.
Net sales from continuing operations were $266.7 million for the 1991 quarter, compared with $246.9 million for the same period in 1990. Sales for the year were $1.1 billion, up about $134 million from the previous year.
LADD Furniture
LADD Furniture Inc., High Point, N.C., parent of American of Martinsville, on Wednesday reported a net loss of $10.6 million, or 56 cents per share, for the quarter ended Dec. 28, compared to a 1990 fourth-quarter net loss of $6.7 million, or 35 cents per share. For the year, LADD posted a net loss of $12.7 million, or 67 cents per share, against 1990 net income of $480,000, or 3 cents per share.
Fourth-quarter net sales in 1991 totaled $102.7 million, down 9.8 percent from $113.8 million in the 1990 quarter, while full-year net sales fell 16.2 percent to $429 million from 1990's $512 million.
