FOXX POWERS FERRUM

Maybe Everett Foxx was a little nervous about being the only guy recognized on Senior Night at Ferrum College.

Whatever the reason, the senior guard got off to a slow start in Wednesday's basketball game against Methodist College.

But Foxx's woes didn't last long.

Foxx scored 31 of his 40 points over the final 24 minutes as Ferrum ran to an 101-83 Dixie Conference victory at Swartz Gymnasium.

"I have had a tendency to get off to a slow start this season," said Foxx, who has scored 121 points in Ferrum's past three games. "But I knew sooner or later it would start going down. It's all about confidence."

Foxx missed his first four shots, and Ferrum (16-6 overall, 6-2 Dixie) trailed 32-25 with 5:24 left in the first half.

However, behind Foxx and Mike Robertson, Ferrum scored 22 points in the final six minutes to take a 45-42 halftime lead.

Foxx scored 19 and Robertson added 16 of his 18 points in the first half.

Methodist (6-17, 1-7) stayed with Ferrum the first eight minutes of the second half, then the Panthers took control with a 20-6 run. \
