THE WOMAN'S MISSIONARY UNION will sponsor a seminar on the issues of latchkey children, grief recovery and illiteracy Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at Fort Lewis Baptist Church, 4215 W. Main St. Salem. For more information, call 989-6812.

\ PEACE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH soon will begin construction of a second modular building to provide six classrooms. The Bonsack-area new congregation has 88 active members who worship in a temporary structure at 4365 Cloverdale Road (U.S. Alternate 220). Permanent buildings will be erected after the highway in front of the church is widened, the Rev. Wilson Gunn, pastor, said.

\ MARANATHA FELLOWSHIP CHURCH, 2715 Green Ridge Road, has scheduled a marriage workshop and seminar Friday through Sunday. \ THE REV. DR. JOHN D. COPENHAVER, a former Roanoker, has published a book, "Prayer and Social Responsibility in the Religious Thought of Douglas Steere." Copenhaver is a professor at Shenandoah University at Winchester. His book examines the life and thought of Steere, a 20th century Quaker theologian.
