3 INDICTED ON CHARGES OF RACCOON SMUGGLING

A federal grand jury Thursday indicted three men for allegedly conspiring to transport at least $26,000 worth of raccoons from Ohio to Southwest Virginia for sale.

The importation of raccoons has been banned in Virginia since 1981 because of health concerns.

Those indicted were Glenn R. Marsh, 64, of Hudson, Ohio; Fritz Neubauer, 72, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and Carl Wallen, 49, of Rogersville, Tenn.

If convicted, the men face prison terms ranging from 10 years to 25 years in prisons and fines of up to $100,000. - Associated Press
