SEEK INFORMATION, VOTE NON-PARTISAN
EACH STATE does not exist in isolation but in concert with the federal government. Some factors that come to mind in this political year are:
The moral and personal integrity of the legislators in Washington and elsewhere; and what lesson does this send to society as a whole?
The gridlock with the presidency and Congress, with subsequent inability to debate and pass intelligent legislation.
Inability to take the nation's deficit seriously.
Longstanding adversarial positions between labor and management.
These problems will not vanish until we, the people, are better informed and vote on a non-partisan basis. The newspaper and the editors are the conveyors of information to tell it as it is and call a spade a spade. TV sound bites appeal to the uninformed. JOHN JOFKO ROANOKE
