INTERNATIONAL SOFTWARE LINK EXPANDED BY VTLS
VTLS Inc., a Blacksburg-based international software company, has formed a new foreign partnership and received a contract from a Canadian organization. The partnership with SWS SoftWare Systems AG of Switzerland became effective in January.
SWS, established in 1979, is now responsible for marketing and supporting VTLS products for clients in Switzerland and southern Germany.
VTLS specializes in library automation and has more than 200 users worldwide. SWS has been developing and selling library automation software for small public libraries since 1986.
VTLS also received a contract to automate the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs' library in Hull, Quebec.
Initially, the system will consist of 15 microcomputers, with three for public use. Plans for library expansion will eventually allow Native organizations dial-in access to the system, which will house a major national collection of documentation on Canada's First Nations and the Candian North.
