SHOOTING INCIDENT KILLS TECH STUDENT

A Virginia Tech freshman died from a gunshot wound he received while visiting friends in his hometown, authorities said.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department was investigating the shooting of James W. Collier, 19, who was visiting a friend in Gordonsville when he was shot Friday night.

Collier died that night.

Authorities said they did not suspect foul play.

They declined to release additional information.

A funeral is scheduled for today in Orange. - Associated Press
