HELP! I find that I have been brainwashed. The U.S. government has told me that I live in the land of the free and the home of the brave, and I have believed this all my life.
The United States is at an all-time low; of this I am very aware, being unable to find work because of the thousands of people in the same circumstances. What are we Americans doing?
I am a veteran who loves his country and believes in America. I find it difficult to understand why the government buys foreign products. While I was in the veterans' medical center in Salem recently, I was astounded and appalled to see that the VA was installing computers manufactured in Taiwan!
I have always tried to do what was right for my country, but now I feel that my country is betraying me. JAY GREENE ROANOKE
