LOTTERY SNAFU FORCES OFF-CAMERA DRAWING
Virginia Lottery officials drew their nightly numbers off-camera Monday after a foul was declared for just the third time in the lottery's history."We had a problem with the machine," Virginia Lottery spokeswoman Paula Otto said. "It was actually a human error. We did not have the balls loaded in the machine on time."
At that point, she said, a foul was declared and the Pick 3 and Pick 4 numbers were drawn off-camera. Viewers hoping to watch the drawings on television saw a screen with the Virginia Lottery logo and were told that there were technical difficulties.
The Pick 3 number was 5-2-2 and the Pick 4 was 8-5-3-9.
Meanwhile, no one has stepped forward to claim the giant prize in Saturday's $27 million Lotto drawing. The ticket was purchased in Chesapeake. It had the winning combination of 8, 11, 13, 15, 19 and 20. - Associated Press
