AUTHOR DECRIES ECONOMIC ILLITERACY
Financial writer Richard Maturi says the average American is an economic illiterate.Maturi, author of "Wall Street Words" (Probus Publishing), explains that most people know what stocks and bonds are, but they're stumped when it comes to investment vehicles as Puts, Calls and Options.
He notes that while doing research for his book he learned that people aren't interested in financial jargon until they become investors.
"Then everything changes," he adds. "They want to listen to and read everything that will help them make the best investment choices."
