PORTER, CORDIE M.

Cordie Vernon McGeorge Porter, age 91, of Route 2, Evington, Va., died Wednesday, February 19, 1992, at her residence. Her husband was the late Joseph Bernard Porter. Born in Goodview, she was a daughter of the late Sam McGeorge and Julie Ann Harris McGeorge. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Johnny Bernard Porter of Evington; William David Porter of Forest; one daughter, Taresa Vernon Porter of Evington; one brother, John McGeorge of Roanoke; one sister, Lillian Talley of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Cynthia Ann Porter and Caroline Lee Porter, both of Evington; several nieces and nephews of Roanoke. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, Va. by the Rev. Jack L. Brooks. Burial will be in Catawba Valley Cemetery, Catawba, Va., at 2:00 p.m. Friday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. today.
