CHILHOWIE RUNS BY CASTLEWOOD

Jason Fore scored 14 of his 25 points in the second half when Chilhowie blew by Castlewood for a 78-55 Hogoheegee District victory.

Trailing 33-32 at the half, Chilhowie (10-9, 7-6) outscored Castlewood 20-7 in the third quarter.

Patrick Brooks scored 18 for Chilhowie, while Chris French added 15 points and Eric Sheets 14. Fore also had 14 rebounds. O.J. Williams paced Castlewood with 24 points. \

Tuesday's games

\ Fort Chiswell 74, Rocky Gap 72: At Max Meadows, Brian Lampkins' layup broke a tie score in the closing minute and the Pioneers scratched out a Mountain Empire District victory.

Trailing 55-48 after three quarters, Fort Chiswell (15-4, 13-4) switched from man-to-man defense to a half-court trap and produced seven steals. The Pioneers converted all into points and outscored Rocky Gap (8-10, 8-9) 26-17 in the fourth quarter.

\ Grayson County 68, Narrows 47: At Narrows, the Blue Devils buried Narrows early and kept pace with Floyd atop the Mountain Empire District.

Grayson County (16-4, 15-2) used a 22-9 second-quarter outburst to take a commanding 34-16 halftime lead.

Wilbert Campbell scored 20 points, Mitch Hawks 15 and Devin Floyd 14 for the Blue Devils, who remain tied for first place in the district with the Buffaloes.

\ Marion 73, Northwood 68: At Saltville, the Scarlet Hurricane took advantage of its free throws and handed the Panthers a non-district loss.

Marion (16-3) sank 15 of 26 free throws for 57.7 percent. Northwood (15-5) had a better percentage, but less than a third of the chances, going 6-of-8 for 75 percent.

\ Gretna 67, Dan River 48: At Ringgold, Eric Waller scored 12 points and Walt Haden added 11 as Gretna blasted the Wildcats in Piedmont District play.

Brian Gunn led Dan River (5-15, 4-13) with 11 points. The Hawks improved to 7-13, 5-12. \
