3 PLAYERS QUIT JMU FOOTBALL TEAM

Three players have quit the James Madison University football team, the university announced Wednesday.

They are fullback Joe Sparksman, tailback Nelson Brockenborough and wide receiver Clip Epps. Each left the team on his own accord, said coach Rip Scherer.

Sparksman has two seasons of eligibility left, Brockenborough has three and Epps has four.

Sparksman was JMU's starting fullback and third-leading rusher last season; Brockenborough was a reserve running back and special teams player; and Epps was a redshirted freshman. - Staff report
