WOMAN JUMPS FROM CAR, FLEES FROM ROBBERS

A 20-year-old college student jumped from a moving car to escape two men who robbed and tried to abduct her from a supermarket parking lot, police said.

Lisa Biever told police she lent jumper cables to the pair Tuesday. As she returned the cables to her trunk, the men grabbed her and threw her in the back seat of her car, she said.

Joseph Tipton, 28, of Petersburg, W.Va., and David Jay Wingo, 40, were arrested in Roanoke on Wednesday after police spotted them driving Biever's car. Police found her credit cards when they searched the two, said Fredericksburg police spokesman James Shelhorse.
