TOLLEY, CLYDE D.

LEXINGTON - Clyde D. Tolley, age 82, died Wednesday, February 19, 1992, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. He was born September 8, 1909, in Rockbridge County, and was the son of the late Roscoe C. and Susie Fix Tolley. He was a graduate of Brownsburg High School, Washington and Lee University and taught school in Rockbridge County for a number of years. He was a retired farmer and a member, Deacon, and Elder of the Bethesda Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday School classes for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen A. Tolley; Surviving are one son, Branner Tolley of Lexington; one daughter, Fidelia Umberger of Columbia, S. C.; one grandson, David Umberger of Columbia, S. C.; four sisters, Florence Mohler, Washington, N. C.; Miss Susie Tolley, Rockbridge Baths, Va.; Virginia Moschler of Christiansburg; Ruby Cauley, Brunswick, Md.; three brothers, Clarence Tolley, Lexington; Joe Tolley, Bristol; and Leonard Tolley, Morrobia, Md. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning at 11:00 from the Bethesda Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David A. Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Bethesda Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or the Fairfield First Aid Crew. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Harrison Funeral Home.
