Bess Repass Muncy, age 97, died at her home February 21, 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband, Minor Muncy, Sr. and one son, Hilary Stanford Muncy. She is survived by three daughters, Ellen M. Walls, Ann M. Monti, and Patricia R. Muncy, of Bland; three sons, Minor Muncy, Jr., Grundy; Charles R. Muncy, Sr. and Gilbert C. Muncy, Bland. The surviving member of a prominent Bland County family, she was the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Juliet K. Repass. She was a retired teacher, having taught for many years in the Bland County school system. She was a member of the Bland Methodist Church, Bland County Historical Association, Friends of the Bland County Library, and was a charter member of the local American Legion Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star. Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the Muncy plot at Bland Cemetery, with the Rev. Joe Taylor officiating. The family requests that flowers be omitted, but memorial contributions may be made to the Bland Rescue Squad or Bland Volunteer Fire Department. Visitors may call at Newberry Funeral Home, Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Newberry Funeral Home in Bland, Va., is in charge of the arrangements.
