VMI COACH MISSING GAME FOR FUNERAL

VMI's basketball team left Friday for Appalachian State without head coach Joe Cantafio, who will miss today's game at 2 p.m.

Cantafio's mother, Theresa, died Thursday in Dunmore, Pa., after a lengthy illness.

Cantafio left the team before practice Thursday and is not expected back until next week. Assistant coaches Dave Manzer and Jim Baker will run the team.

Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Dunmore.
