TUCKER ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tucker celebrated their 50th anniversary on September 28, 1991, when they renewed their wedding vows at Days Inn Airport. Rev. Paul Johnson performed the ceremony. Rev. Ray Arrington served as Toastmaster, and Jean Green served as Toastmistress of this beautiful affair. Formality and good fellowship prevailed throughout the superbly catered gala dinner reception which followed the ceremony where more than 100 guests attended. Mrs. Dorothy Moore, Mrs. Tucker's sister, attended from out of town to help them celebrate. Anniversary coordinators were Deloris Hayden and Jean Green.The couple were married September 10, 1941. They have been at their present residence 21 years. She is the former Venus Hawthorne. They have one child, Bessie Brown and husband, Hatcher Brown. The have 2 grandchildren, Dawn Murphy and Jasper Brown, and one grandson-in-law, Douglas Murphy. They have one great-grandchild, Eric Murphy. Mr. Tucker retired from N&W Railroad and Mrs. Tucker retired from Va. Employment Commission. The couple attends Maple Street Baptist Church. Some of the organizations they belong to are Church Usher Board, Men's Union, Choir, Star City Chapter A.B.W.A.
