HARRIS, RUTH C.Mrs. Ruth Chewning Harris, age 64 went home to be with the Lord on February 22, 1992. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison L. Harris. Surviving are two sons and "daughters"-in-law, Gerald R. and Cynthia C. Harris, Vinton; Michael S. and Debra B. Harris, Botetourt County; one grandson and his wife, Michael Richard (Rick) Harris and Monica G. Harris, Roanoke; two brothers, Steve E. Chewning and wife Bonnie Chewning, Salem; Paul E. Chewning, Roanoke; four sisters, Mrs. Aileen C. Willey, Vinton; Mrs. Pearl C. Wertz and husband Rev. Lester G. Wertz, Salem; Mrs. Betty C. Doss and husband Curtis P. Doss, Goodview; Mrs. Shirley C. Dillard and husband Lloyd Dillard, Norfolk; one sister-in-law, Nancy O. Chewning, Salem and a host of nieces and nephews. Many special thanks to the doctors and staff of the Fifth and Sixth Floors of Lewis-Gale Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 24 with the Rev. Art Hearne officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
