MATTHEWS, ELLA R.

Ella Rakes Matthews, age 90 of Roanoke (a long time resident of Garden City) died Friday. She was a former employee of Hinman Flowers and was the widow of Charles S. Matthews. Surviving are one stepdaughter, Anna Laura Douglas, Denver, Colorado; sister-in-law, Alma F. Rakes, Roanoke; nephews, Ernest W. Rakes, Orren N. Rakes, Larry C. Rakes, all of Roanoke; niece, Jeanette R. Ryan, Roanoke. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Kelly Dampeer officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Roanoke.
