WYTHEVILLE PAIR CHARGED IN ABDUCTION

A Wytheville man and woman have been charged with kidnapping a 21-year-old woman who says she was sexually assaulted.

Matthew Wood Ridgeaway is charged with abduction and sodomy and Patricia Diane Hawkins with conspiracy to commit a felony.

Investigator Kent Vaughan of the Wythe County Sheriff's Department said the 21-year-old woman reported Tuesday that she had been lured to the Stoney Fork area of the county by the female, handcuffed, taped across the eyes, driven to another location and assaulted.

Ridgeaway and Hawkins were free on bond pending an April 6 hearing.
