GUILFORD DROPS ROANOKE

Guard Paul Ferrell threw in 36 points Saturday night as Guilford gunned down Roanoke College 95-92 in both teams' Old Dominion Athletic Conference basketball finale Saturday night.

Ferrell made nine of 12 shots from the field and 16 of 21 free-throw attempts. As a team, the Quakers (12-12 overall, 8-10 ODAC) nailed 36 of 47 free throws.

Michael Wright and Brad McCorkle added 15 points each for Guilford, and Chad Brown finished with 13.

Hillary Scott led Roanoke (15-10, 12-6) with 30 points. Kevin Martin had 21 and Michael Thornton 16. The Maroons had 25 assists, including eight by Jamara Jones and six by Martin. \
