TECH MEN 2ND, WOMEN 3RD AT SWIMMING EVENT
Diana Gross highlighted Virginia Tech's participation in the National Independent swimming and diving championships.The Tech women's team, led by Gross, finished in third place. The Tech men, led by Collins Trimble, were second overall.
Gross took first place in the 200 freestyle event with a time of 1:52.39 and was second in the 100 freestyle.
Chris Nelson was second in the 100 backstroke, third in the 200 backstroke and third in the 200 individual medley.
Others turning in strong efforts were Dana Fennessy, Stacey Moore and Katharine Ripol.
For the men, Trimble led the way by finishing third in the 200 and 400 individual medleys and fourth in the 200 backstroke.
Eric Thompson was second in the 100 breast stroke, and Scott Santucci was second in the 200 butterfly and third in the 100 butterfly. - Staff report
