George Imorde hit seven free throws in overtime as Peninsula Catholic of Newport News defeated Roanoke Catholic 52-49 Sunday for the state Catholic AAA basketball championship.With the scored tied at 46 and 31 seconds remaining in overtime, defending champion Peninsula's Imorde went to the line for a one-and-one and made both. He hit two more with 15 seconds remaining and two more with 7 seconds left for a 52-46 lead. Scott Sartini, who had 12 points for Roanoke (12-11), hit a 3-pointer to close out the game.
Ed Ferreira, who had Peninsula's lone field goal in the extra period, finished with 18.
Jemarh Patterson and Jason Greimel each added 12 points for the Celtics (12-11). Staff report
