WINE, GALEN D. Galen D. Wine, age 83, of Friendship Manor, passed away
Monday, February 24, 1992. He was a retired farmer, minister, and teacher. Mr.
Wine was born September 21, 1908 in Forestville, Va., the son of the late J.
D. and Kitty Huffman Wine. Surviving are his wife, Reba Hartman Wine; two
daughters, Lois Wine, Collinsville; Sarah Wine, Guatemala, Central America; a
sister, Mary Wine Lanier, Bridgewater; and four brothers, Isaac Wine,
Quicksburg, Va.; Jesse Wine, Woodstock; Floyd Wine, Winchester; Ira Wine,
Portland, Maine. Mr. Wine served the Church of the Brethren ministry for over
50 years. He was a full time pastor for 12 years; a part time pastor for seven
years and served 20 years as a free minister while farming for his father. He
graduated from Bridgewater College. The funeral service will be conducted by
Rev. James Worline and Rev. Owen Stultz at Summerdean Church of the Brethren,
11:00 a.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that
donations be made to the Summerdean Church of the Brethren (6604 Plantation
Rd. N.E., Roanoke, VA 24012). Burial will be in Flat Rock Church of the
Brethren Cemetery, New Market, Va. at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may call at
Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00
p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.
