CAR IN FATAL ACCIDENT WAS GOING WRONG WAY

The driver of a car that slammed into another vehicle Monday, killing three people, was traveling the wrong way at high speeds for about 10 miles before the collision, witnesses told police.

Trooper R.C. Keith said Faustino Torres, 20, of Houston, Texas, was driving east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 near Williamsburg when the accident occurred about 1:45 a.m.

The three occupants of the second car, all from Portsmouth, died at the scene, police said. Keith identified them as the driver, Lynette Carol Parks, 18, Amy Lynn Rasmussen, 21, and Anthony Thomas Battaglia, 29.
