CONFESSIONS LINK 2 SUSPECTS TO 31 BREAK-INS
Two men charged in connection with two Southwest Roanoke burglaries have admitted to at least 31 others, Roanoke police said Monday.Milton Ray Asbury, 22, and Waverly Cleveland Elmore, 22, made their confessions after their arrest last week, said Investigations Maj. J.L. Viar.
Asbury and Elmore are suspects in a series of burglaries that took place between late December and last week.
In some of the cases, burglars battered their way through doors containing deadbolt locks, Viar said.
At least once, a burglar came into the house of a 95-year-old woman, who was asleep at the time. One of the burglaries occurred at the home of a city police officer, who was working on the evening shift.
Several break-ins occurred in the area of Cravens Creek Road, Keagy Road and Lake Drive within a three- to four-hour span, Viar said.
Police are consulting with Commonwealth's Attorney Donald Caldwell to see if the two men's parole can be revoked.
Rebecca Meadow Tyree, 24, of Mountain View Terrace Southwest, has been charged with three counts of possessing stolen property in connection with the burglaries.
