LAW WOULD ENSURE PARENTAL RIGHT

PLANNED Parenthood opposes a parental-notification law, saying it would allow inadequate health care and cost the government money.

Nonsense! The law would ensure the God-given right of parents to support and counsel their daughters without interference from outside sources. There are many health hazards connected with an abortion.

Teens made accountable to their parents for their behavior become more responsible. It is costly for any government to pay welfare, but this cost decreases with the support of family. Medicaid, which can be collected for medical service for a teen without parental support, is also decreased.

I believe it is time our legislators used integrity and good sense by passing a parental-notification law that would allow a judge or clergy to counsel if the teen cannot confront her parent(s). ROSALYN HARRELL ROANOKE
