CORNING CHALLENGES TAX ASSESSMENT
Corning Inc. has filed a lawsuit challenging Montgomery County's property tax assessment of its plant on U.S. 460.Corning had challenged the valuation before the county Board of Equalization, which kept the value of the land the same, $953,700, and reduced the plant's value from $6.03 million to $5.8 million, the suit said.
But the assessments still are wrong and are more than those for similar properties in the same area, Corning said.
Corning wants the Montgomery County Circuit Court to order the county to correct the "erroneous assessments," make the necessary corrections in county records and pay any refunds along with interest.
