INEFFABLE TWADDLE WRITTEN ABOUT GUNS
AS A "TROGLODYTIC freak," I must answer the ineffable twaddle Mr. Seamans substituted for reasoned commentary Feb. 16.His elitist attitude that he and his reasoning are inherently superior to those he fears or dislikes is amazing. To call those with different views cavemen undermines his argument. He wants to impose his value system on those he considers lesser - the sort of autocratic thinking the Constitution's framers most feared.
Mr. Seamans' desire to ban firearms stems more from his admitted dislike of those different from him than from any desire to protect children. What he dislikes or fears must be unavailable to all. His "inferiors" should adopt his views and lifestyle as the only correct one.
I am college-educated, a devotee of shooting sports, and keep firearms for protection of home and family. I dislike and fear Mr. Seamans' opinion - does that make him a troglodytic freak? Should I advocate repeal of the First Amendment he holds dear?
Mr. Seamans has no monopoly on truth. His piece was mere pedantic demagoguery. Whatever merit it may have had was negated by childish name-calling and an inability to disguise his true agenda. ROBERT C. FALLON FINCASTLE
