PHOENIX BOYS CHOIR TO PERFORM IN SALEM
The Phoenix Boys Choir will perform March 8 at 4 p.m. in Roanoke College's Olin Theater in Salem.Thirty-eight singers, ages 10 to 14, make up the ensemble.
Noted for its artistic quality and performance discipline, a New York critic called the ensemble "one of the outstanding boys choirs in the Western Hemisphere."
The first half of the program will feature sacred works from five centuries including the music of Bach, Brahms and Bernstein. A choreographed rag by Scott Joplin and a "Down-Under Medley" of Australian songs will be showcased in the second half.
General admission is $5. Children 12 and under are free.
