SIMPSON, EMILY E.

Emily E. Simpson, age 82, died February 28, at her home following a long illness. She was a guidance counselor in the Richmond Public Schools for twenty-three years, retiring in 1971. Previously, she had taught in Pocahontas, Va., Winston-Salem, N. C., and Lynchburg, Va. She was a graduate of Farmville State Teachers College, now Longwood College and received her masters degree from the University of Virginia. Miss Simpson was a member of the National State and Richmond Education Associations, Craig County Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teachers Society. She was also a member of New Castle United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sisters, Cecile K. and Mary L. Simpson, New Castle; two nieces, Anne E. Alston, Moneta; and Mary E. Worlledge, Parkersburg, W.Va.; and two nephews, Robert D. Simpson, Jr., Roanoke; and Edward C. Simpson, Miami Springs, Fla. Funeral services will be held Sunday 2:00 p.m. at New Castle United Methodist Church with interment in West View Cemetery. The Rev. David W. Breeden will officiate. The family will receive friends at Boitnott Funeral Home Saturday evening 7:00 to 9:00 and request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Craig County Rescue Squad or New Castle United Methodist Church.
