INFERTILITY-DOCTOR CASE JURY WEIGHS EVIDENCE

Jurors in the trial of Cecil Jacobson, the infertility doctor accused of artificially inseminating patients with his own sperm, deliberated for 4 1/2 hours Friday before recessing for the weekend.

Jacobson is charged in a 52-count indictment with lying to patients at his Vienna clinic about the source of the sperm, and of using hormone injections to trick other women into believing they were pregnant when they were not.

The case was given to the eight-woman, four-man jury after 12 days of often wrenching testimony by women who contended that Jacobson repeatedly led them through fake pregnancies and miscarriages. The jury is scheduled to reconvene Monday morning. - Associated Press
