Furnishings from Pulaski Furniture Co. in Pulaski and Sam Moore Chair in Bedford are prominent in Burdines department stores' first free-standing furniture store, a 70,000-square-foot operation in Miami. Burdines is part of Federated Department Stores.

NationsBank Corp., Charlotte, N.C., operator of NationsBank and NationsBanc Mortgage in Roanoke, said Friday it has completed the sale of 8.05 million newly issued shares of its common stock, generating $353 million in capital. Proceeds from the sale will be used for general corporate purposes.

Virginia Tech's Economic Development Assistance Center has put a small-business development center at Wytheville Community College that will work with locally initiated small businesses, said Director Robert Edwards. Another center is at the New River Valley Planning District office in Radford.
