GILBERT, SHEPHERD REACH AAA WRESTLING SEMIFINALS

Franklin County's Isreal Gilbert (135 pounds) and William Fleming's unbeaten Keno Shepherd (103) have made it to the semifinals in the Group AAA wrestling tournament this weekend at the Arthur Ashe Center.

Gilbert, who has lost only twice this year, and Shepherd each won two matches Friday. Each needs two wins today to claim state titles.

Franklin County, which won the Northwestern Region title last week, is the top Roanoke Valley District team with 18 points. The Eagles are tied for ninth place behind Great Bridge, which leads with 77 points. - Staff report
