A group of doctors at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York studied 13 women for a year. For six months, the women ate 8 ounces of yogurt a day, and for another six months skipped the yogurt. They were tested for levels of colonizing yeast and infection throughout the study. Scientists found the women averaged 0.3 infections while taking yogurt compared to 2.5 infections when yogurt was not part of their diet. - Newsday
