HARRIS, BESSIE M. ROCKY MOUNT - Mrs. Bessie M. Harris, age 91, died February 28, 1992, at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Harris; a daughter, Margaret May Harris; and a son, Roger Thomas Harris. Mrs. Harris had been a member of The Rocky Mount United Methodist Church for seventy-five years. She was a homemaker and an avid flower grower. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Evelyn) Stone, Martinsville; Mrs. Charles (Nellie) Oxley, Falls Church; a sister, Mrs. Henry Elder, Greensboro, N.C.; two granddaughters, Marilyn S. Vaughn, Martinsville; Mrs. Donna H. Dillon, Rocky Mount; a grandson, Roy Stone, Jr., Key West, Fla.; five great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one great-great-grandson; and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Lynch Chapel. Interment will follow in High Street Cemetery. Friends may call at Lynch Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. Monday where the family will be from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Rocky Mount United Methodist Church.
