WEST VIRGINIA TECH, W&L SPLIT IN BASEBALL

Freshman Duane Van Arsdale went 4-for-7 and hit three home runs in helping Washington and Lee to a split of a baseball header on Saturday.

West Virginia Tech (1-2) won the first game 12-9. Van Arsdale hit two two-run homers for the Generals.

W&L won the second game 9-6. W&L freshman pitcher Bates Brown allowed two earned runs and struck out five in five innings of work. The game was called after five innings because of darkness.

W&L (2-1) will play Division I Holy Cross at home on Wednesday. - Staff
