MEDIA TRY TO STIR UP RACIAL PROBLEMS

THE ARTICLE about owners of the Mai Tai restaurant having to sell the house they purchased for their employees stated that the subdivision where the house is located had a "Caucasians only" rule when it was established 40 years ago.

The story also said the rule had been made illegal a few years later. I feel that this information had no bearing on the story.

This appears to be another attempt by the media to bring racism into a situation where there may be none. I have noticed all forms of the media trying to bring a racial angle into a lot of stories. I assume this is done to sell more papers, attract more viewers, or gather more listeners.

I am not blind to the fact that many problems are racially motivated. But there are a great number of situations in which race is not a factor. The media need to report the news instead of trying to create the news by stirring up more problems. We, as a people, cannot let the media separate us into races. We need to work together to be able to solve our problems, whether they involve race or not. CURTIS WOOD ROANOKE
