ARSONISTS GET 15-MINUTE SENTENCES

Two boys were sentenced to 15 minutes' confinement for setting a fire that caused at least $1 million in damage to Bedford Hills Elementary School.

On Jan. 29, one boy pleaded guilty to felony arson and breaking and entering, while the other was convicted of similar crimes.

Judge Dale Harris on Monday ordered the two boys convicted of arson, who were 14 at the time of the Dec. 7 fire, to spend 15 minutes in a holding room.

She also ordered them to perform four hours of community service each week during the school year and 20 more hours a week during the summer, and to pay $2,500 in restitution to the school.
