MEADOWS OF DAN - George Steven Wood, age 84, of Rt. 2, Meadows of Dan, died Wednesday in the Laurel Meadows Nursing Home. He is survived buy his wife, Mrs. Claudia Agee Harris Wood, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and James E. Hodges, Vinton; five sons and daughters-in-law, Rufus E. and Mary Lee Wood, Lynchburg; Claude S. and Thelma Wood, Danville; Esmond and Essie Harris, Vinton; Marvin and Elnora Harris, Christiansburg; Ben and Mary Harris, Meadows of Dan; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Belcher and Mrs. Lillian Belcher, both of Woolwine; two brothers, Benton Wood and Harles Wood, both of Meadows of Dan. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon 2:00 p.m. at the Meadows of Dan Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Meadows of Dan Baptist Church Thursday night from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made if desire to the Vesta Rescue Squad, Vesta, Va. or the Meadows of Dan Fire Department, Meadows of Dan, Va.
