VMI'S PRESTON, PENN ON SC COACHES' TEAM

VMI juniors Lewis Preston and Jonathan Penn were selected for the Southern Conferences Coaches All-Conference team announced Wednesday.

Preston and Preston each received five votes, which tied them for seventh in voting for the 11-man team. VMI was one of five teams that had two players picked to the squad.

Western Carolina senior guard Terry Boyd and East Tennessee State senior forward Rodney English were the only unanimous choices, each collecting a vote from all eight league coaches.

ETSU forward Calvin Talford, a native of Castlewood, also made the squad.

Keith Nelson and Tim Brooks, both from Tennessee-Chattanooga, Bruce Evans (Furman), Robert Grimes (Western Carolina), Hal Henderson (Furman) and Steve Spurlock (Appalachian State) round out the team. - Staff report
